Composting For Life – Workshops at CECAS, Myross Wood House, Leap with Donal O’Leary
This popular course is ideal for everyone who has an outdoor space whether large or small, rural or urban and will help us make the most of our space, improve soil condition and fertility and manage garden and food waste sustainably. Would also make a fabulous gift for the gardener in your life.
The course will cover:
- Waste awareness and reduction
- Principles and essentials of composting
- Garden composters
- Wormeries
- Leaf mould
- Hot composting
- Bokashi waste fermentation
- Managing compost piles and dealing with problems
- Soil fertility and nutrients
- Using compost, green manures, and natural additives to improve soil fertility and crop productivity
- And anything else that comes up when a bunch of enthusiastic people get together
Donal O’Leary has been running composting workshops for schools and community settings (Tidy Towns groups, Community gardening group) and businesses for many years. Cork Environmental Awards recently described Donal as “the most knowledgeable person we have ever met on the subject of composting. He is excellent at engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds and could captivate any audience on the topic.”

- All tuition and materials
- Tea and coffee on arrival

- Access to the woodland and gardens at CECAS
Cost €50 per person (We also have a limited number of spaces for unwaged or 18 – 25 year olds at €30 )
